Dear delegates, comrades and friends,
First of all I would like to express my deep thanks to Honorary Chairman Comrade Harilaos
Florakis, Comrade Aleka Paparigha and the Central Committee of the Communist Party of
Greece who initiated the international meeting of the Communist and Workers’ Parties,
kindly invited the delegation of the Workers’ Party of Korea and made sincere efforts
for the success of the meeting.
I would like to take this opportunity to convey warm congratulations and comradely greetings of the entire members of the Workers’ Party of Korea and our people to the entire members of the Communist Party of Greece who are celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the party and to comrades delegates of various communist and workers’ parties of the world participating in the meeting.
Comrades,
150 years have elapsed since the publication of the historic «Communist Manifesto» which
provided the working class of the entire world who rose up against capitalism and
oppression with the weapons of class liberation and the banner of the struggle.
The name Karl Marx who opened the beginning of the international communist movement and brought about fundamental change in the struggle of the working class and the popular masses for freedom and liberation is cherished in the hearts of the working class and people of all of the countries.
History has advance far away from the creation of Marxism which proved the inevitability of collapse of capitalism and the necessity of victory of communism and socialism and the publication of the «Communist Manifesto» and the struggle of the popular masses for independence has entered into a new stage of its development.
Socialism which had been just an ideal came true and it is proved that it is scientific and correct. And it is printed on the mind of the progressive human kind that socialism is the only way for the working masses to realize independence free from all kinds of exploitation and oppression.
This is exactly the historic summing up of the development of human society we have at the time of greeting the 21st century.
Although the imperialists and the renegades of socialism negate the revolutionary idea of the working class, the truth of the scientific socialism and make fuss about «eternity» of capitalism and «end» of socialism it is nothing but a sophistry to beautify imperialism whose doomsday is numbered.
Of course, it is a pity that socialism was frustrated and parties collapsed in some countries, but that is just a temporary phenomenon.
Comrade Kim Jong First General Secretary of our party made public many classic works on drawing lessons from the abnormal events and on further advancing socialist movement.
The lesson we draw from the frustration of socialism and collapse of parties in some of the countries is that we should firmly establish independence in party building and its activities.
A working class party should think about all the problems coming up in the party building and activities with one’s own brain and solve them relying on its own efforts.
Even when getting the experiences of the others it should apply them creatively in conformity with the reality of its own country.
Under the circumstances that different countries have different conditions if one dogmatically accepts the experiences of the other countries he or she can not carry out the independent cause of the popular masses, the cause of socialism.
Another lesson is that we should defend the purity of the socialist idea and observe the revolutionary principle in order to accomplish the cause of socialism to the end.
The historic experiences show that when the ideology changes the working class party and the socialist system change and they cease to exist.
It is all because of the degeneration of the ideology that the party witnessed renegades and it got disintegrated.
It is natural that even the mighty economy and military power would not work and the socialist system that has gone through the course of development for several decades would collapse if the ideology degenerates.
The historic lesson from the frustration of socialism and collapse of the parties in some of the countries is that the parties should strengthen the international unity and solidarity based on socialist idea and independence in their relationship with the others.
Independence is the life blood of a country and a nation and the cause of socialism is the national cause of individual countries and parties as well as the international cause.
Communist and Workers’ Parties have their rights to defend their independence and are obliged to respect the independence of the others and strengthen comradely unity and cooperation based on the idea of socialism for the victory of socialist cause.
From such historic lessons it is important for all of the communist and workers’ parties to observe following principles in order to rebuild and consolidate international socialist movement and to be loyal to the socialist cause.
Organizational and ideological foundations should be consolidated on the basis of socialist idea.
The parties should be built as popular parties with their roots struck among the masses.
Socialist principle should be thoroughly observed under whatever circumstances and conditions.
International unity and solidarity should be consolidated on the basis of anti-imperialist and socialist idea.
Now many communist and workers’ parties are recovering their ranks and files and are actively waging their activities for advancing the socialist cause on a new orbit although they experienced heart braking twists and turns temporally with the frustration of socialism in some of the countries.
Today the imperialists are desperately challenging the cause of independence of the popular masses, the cause of socialism.
The imperialists are openly violating the independence and national traits of the other countries under the pretext of «Globalization» and are cunningly trying to realize the neo-colonialist domination.
The imperialists’ policy of «Neo-liberalism» is nothing but an out and out domination policy to hinder the independent development of the other countries and subjugate them economically under their monopoly capitalism.
It is a prerequisite for the parties of all of the countries to maintain independence and national trait in their revolutionary struggle in order to oppose the domination and subjugation openly imposed by the imperialists and realize independence of their country and the nation.
The great leader Comrade Kim Jong First taught as follows.
«It is a fundamental principle in carrying out the independence cause of the popular masses, the cause of socialism to maintain independence and national trait in revolution and construction».
By maintaining independence in revolutionary struggle we mean that the popular masses should be the masters themselves in hewing out their destiny and the destiny of their country and their nation.
By maintaining national trait we mean one should preserve and develop the outstanding characters intrinsic to the nation and embody them in all fields of social life.
It is a common demand and aspiration of all people of the world to maintain independence and national traits.
There is not a single people who do not love and value their own country and nation and who want the dignity and soul of the nation to be trampled upon and ignored.
Our party extends full support and solidarity to the communist and workers’ parties of the European region in their position and struggle to realize a democratic and popular integration of Europe, not that of imperialist and anti-popular character and to demand abolition of all of the military bases of the foreign countries.
Independence and national traits are the life blood of our revolution.
Under the wise leadership of Comrade Kim Jong First our party and people are further consolidating politico-ideological, economic and military bulwark of socialism, the three major fortress of our revolution by firmly defending independence and national character in revolution and construction.
In the future, too, we will defend and enrich popular centered socialism of our style from the anti-Republic and anti-socialist schemes of the imperialists by surely maintaining independence and national trait in revolution and construction.
It was the lifetime cause of the great leader Comrade Kim First Sung and is the unanimous desire of the entire Korean people to achieve independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
Great leader Comrade Kim Jong First General Secretary of our party put forward on April 18, 1998 Five-Point Policy of Great National Unity in his classic work «Let us reunify the country independently and peacefully through the great unity of the entire nation» reflecting the will of our people to carry out the behest of the great leader Comrade Kim First Sung without fail.
The Five-Point Policy of Great National Unity on maintaining the principle of national independence, uniting under the banner of love of the nation and love of the country, improving relations between the north and the south, struggling against foreign domination and the anti-reunification forces and strengthening solidarity and unity of the entire nation by holding contacts and dialogues is vigorously inspiring the entire Korean people to the implementation of the cause of national reunification.
Our party and people will surely achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country by thoroughly carrying out the Three Charters of National Reunification and the Five-Point Policy of the Great National Unity under the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong First.
I would like to express my deep thanks through comrade delegates to the Communist Party of Greece and the communist and workers’ parties of the world for constant support and solidarity they extended to our people in their struggle for socialist construction and the cause of national reunification.
Our party will in the future, too, be loyal to the national obligation as well as international obligation by firmly maintaining the principle of independence, socialism and anti-imperialism up holding the banner of the Pyongyang Declaration under the wise leadership of the great leader Comrade Kim Jong First General Secretary of our party, opposing aggression, war, domination and subjugation of the imperialists and strengthening international solidarity, cooperation and common actions, in every way with all of the communist and workers’ parties in the struggle for the cause of socialism, the cause of independence of the popular masses.
The cause of independence, socialism and anti-imperialism, the just cause will definitely win.
Long live the solidarity between the progressive parties struggling for independence, socialism and anti-imperialism!
