Hungarian Workers’ Party

We do not want war! We are with the people of Yugoslavia!

Budapest, 24 March, 1999.

1. The Hungarian Workers’ Party condemns that the NATO under the leadership of the imperialist circles of the US wants to liquidate Yugoslavia and for this aggressive aim does not hesitate to begin war. We demand to stop immediately all forms of aggression against Yugoslavia.

2. The NATO is risking the peace of all of us. The aggression against Yugoslavia may threaten the peace of Europe and the world. It can mean a danger for the peace of Hungary, as well.

3. We are with the people of Yugoslavia in this unequal Fight. War cannot be justified by no means. There cannot be any reasonable explanation for aggression. The main aim of the West is to liquidate Yugoslavia, to change its political and social system. The people and the political forces of Yugoslavia did not accept this press by force. They did not accept to take away a part of their national territory, Kosovo. They did not accept and by clear mind they could not accept that thousand and thousands American, German and other foreign soldiers occupy their territory.

4. We turn to the Hungarian Parliament and the Hungarian Government: as a member state of the NATO to do all possible measures against war and in favor of peaceful solution.

We demand to forbid using US- bases in Hungary in a war against Yugoslavia!

We demand not to allow using the Hungarian territory to transit NATO-troops, to stop the use of Hungarian airspace. Hungary should not take part in any form in a war against the neighbor Yugoslavia.

We demand the Hungarian Prime Minister to visit Belgrade as an expression of our good will.
