Your Excellency,
We wish to request your urgent action in order to stop the wave of executions currently
underway in Iraq and in particular at Abu Ghriab prison.
We have been informed by the Iraqi Communist Party that since 13th 1997 the
dictatorial regime headed by Sadaam Hussein has executed more than 1500 political
prisoners in a “prison clean-up” operation.
The fact that Saddam Hussein himself ordered this barbaric act against innocent political
prisoners through presidential Decree No.181 dated 13/7/1997 makes these acts state
sponsored terrorism against the Iraqi people.
It is therefore entirely appropriate that the relevant UN and other international agencies
should apply pressure on the Iraqi regime to immediately halt all executions and that such
action should be quick and resolute to prevent any unleashing of further atrocities
against thousands of Iraqi people who are unjustly imprisoned for questioning the legality
of the regime.
The Central Committee of the Tudeh Party of Iran unreservedly condemns these inhuman
actions of the dictatorial regime in Baghdad and declares its continued militant
solidarity with the heroic people of Iraq, all progressive and patriotic political forces
fighting for establishment of democracy and human tights in Iraq and in particular the
Iraqi Communist Party.
We would like to inform you that the Tudeh Party of Iran will continue its militant
solidarity with the Iraqi people and will do its part to maintain the international
campaign for an end to the rule of terror and tyranny in Iraq.
We thank you in anticipation of your action.

Dear comrades,
We would like to inform you that the declaration of 13th July issued by ‘the
Centre for Humans Rights-Iraqi Communist Party’ was received by our party.
We were shocked to learn of the continued atrocities against the fraternal Iraqi people by
the dictatorial regime of Saddam Hussein.
These executions illustrate the bankruptcy and isolation of the Iraqi regime and bare
similarities to the internal terror unleashed by the Islamic Republican regime in Iran
against Iranian democrats at the end of the 8 year terrible and criminal conflict in 1988.
Such desperate acts, we are convinced, will be condemned by all true democrats and by
history itself.
We would like to assure you and through you all Iraqi people that our party and our people
stand with you in your struggle for an end to the rule of terror and tyranny in your
country.
The Central Committee of the Tudeh Party of Iran resolutely condemns inhumane actions of
the dictatorial regime in Baghdad and declares its continued militant solidarity with the
heroic people of Iraq, all progressive and patriotic political forces fighting for
establishment of democracy and human rights in Iraq and in particular the fraternal Iraqi
Communist Party.
The Central Committee of the Tudeh Party of Iran resolved to issue an appeal addressed to
the UN and other world agencies concerned with human rights demanding urgent action to
stem this wave of executions.
We are confident of the success of your struggle for democracy, peace and progress in Iraq
and throughout the region.
Long live the friendship of Iraqi and Iranian people.
Long live the solidarity between the Iraqi Communist Party and the Tudeh Party of Iran.
Yours in Comradeship
