Statement of the C.C of the Tudeh Party of Iran

The Tudeh Party of Iran condemns the assassination of Daryoosh Foroohar, leader of the People's Party of Iran (PPI - Hezb Melate Iran) and his wife, Parvaneh Foroohar.

Daryoosh Foroohar and his wife Parvaneh were murdered by henchmen of the Regime of "Velayat Faqiheh" in Tehran, Iran. Daryoosh and Parvaneh Foroohar were among the leaders of national movement in our homeland, Iran. They have been struggling against the regime of "Velayat Faqiheh" and, in recent years, they have been under surveillance and had received several threats.

The brutal murder of Daryoosh and Parvaneh Foroohar clearly shows that the Regime of "Velayat Faqiheh" will resort to any crime in order to stay in power. This cowardly act of assassination, like all previous ones (of Ghasemlou, Sharafkandi, Sami, and others) is also an indication of the inherently violent anti-people and criminal nature of the regime, that has so far murdered thousands of patriots and freedom fighters. And this, of course, will not be their last one.

Assassination is the regime's way of brandishing ultimatums to those who oppose the regime. This also show a readiness to implement the threats of the leader of the Revolutionary Guards, who as the spokesperson of the thugs in the conservative section of regime, had openly announced previously, that he would 'slit the throats' and 'cut the tongues' of anyone who dared oppose the regime.

The assassination of Daryoosh and Parvaneh Foroohar also shows the deepening fears of the regime over the growing popular movement and increasing struggle of the masses to end despotism and thereby achieve freedom and social justice in Iran. Committing such a dastardly act in the current situation reflects weakness and impotency of the dictatorship to confront the rising tide of popular opposition to the Regime of "Velayat Faqiheh". The movement of the masses towards emancipation and social justice against medieval terror has reached such heights and is moving so fast that such desperate measures will not and can not stem the overwhelming force of this movement.

The Tudeh Party of Iran sends is sincerest condolences to the members and friends of PPI and to the family and relatives of Daryoosh and Parvaneh Foroohar. The Tudeh Party of Iran most vehemently denounces the regime and its henchmen for this cowardly crime, and appeals to all progressive forces in Iran and around the world in voicing their protests to the Regime of "Velayat Faqiheh" of the Islamic Republic of Iran. At the same time, this despicable act of assassination should be a good lesson to the world community, especially western countries, who despite the ruling of Berlin court convicting the leaders of the regime in Iran for their active participation in the murder of Dr. Sharafkandi and his friends closed their eyes to these crimes, and indeed encourage the regime to continue its criminal policy of terror.

Eternally damnation to the henchmen of the treacherous Regime of "Velayat Faqiheh" of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
