Statement of the Central Committee of the Iraqi Communist Party
Shaqlawa (Arbil) - Iraq
Thursday 17/12/98
No to Aggression! No to Dictatorship!
Our country has been subjected since the early hours of this morning to waves of brutal bombing by the US and Britain. The raids have inflicted human losses among our people as well as material damage to public and private property, the extent of which is difficult to assess.
We condemn strongly the American aggression, and call for its immediate cessation, and for resorting to political means to force the dictatorial rulers to fulfill their pledges and carry out the resolutions of UN Security Council.
We condemn, on other hand, the reckless attitude of the dictator and his cronies towards the safety and fate of our people and homeland. They bear grave and major responsibility for exposing the people and country to the present dangers.
Meanwhile, we call upon the long-suffering masses of our people, who are the first and biggest victim of both the American aggressive operations and Saddam Hussein’s criminal and adventurous policy, to exercise vigilance, close their ranks and prepare to defend themselves and their interests and rights in the face of this aggression, as well as the dictatorship’s schemes of bloody terror and repression.
We also call upon the friends of our people, and all peace - loving forces and supporters of democracy in the world, to exert every effort to stop the American aggression and strive to settle the crisis with peaceful means.
It is a historic moment which requires the Iraqi opposition forces, with all their democratic, national and Islamic tendencies, to shoulder their responsibilities towards the fate of the people and homeland. They must act immediately to meet and conduct a serious dialogue to coordinate their efforts and mobilize their potentials against the American aggression, the economic blockade and the dictatorship; and for a unified democratic and federal Iraq.
Campaign for Democratic Iraq
Spare our Iraqi People from Death and Destruction
Once again our Iraqi people and homeland are subjected to military strikes by the US and Britain, which bring back the horrors of war and spread death and terror among innocent civilians.
Our people have rejected the dirty game between a dictatorial regime and an American administration which persists in punishing the Iraqi people of crimes committed by Saddam’s regime.
We strongly oppose the use of force, and condemn the on-going military action, calling for its immediate cessation to spare our people further catastrophes and agonies.
We call for solidarity with our Iraqi people in their difficult ordeal and suffering as a result of the dictatorship’s policy, the unjust economic blockade and the on-going military action.
NO to the US and British military actions
NO to the economic blockade
NO to Saddam’s dictatorship
Solidarity with the Iraqi people for freedom and democracy
